She's a cliché, she's a beautiful girl who works for a PI and she was kidnapped by unknown parties to be used as bait in a trap against him.
So she's tied up and gagged somewhere (back room, a boat, inside a car's trunk... wherever), awaiting for her hero to come and rescue her...
While she does that she starts to think about who could have done that to her this time and tries to remember what little she could have seen or heard that could help her to identify her captor(s).
While she does that she remembers how many times such a situation happened to her and compares 'then' with 'now' in order to see if there's any similarity between her plights.
