I wouldn't worry too much about not having pictures on your site right away.
Personally, I don't think you really need them. I know they where very popular but I always felt they sort of detracted from the stories which are the primary purpose of the site. There are plenty of places on the internet where you can look at pictures, but frightfully few places where you can read quality stories such as yours.
I wouldn't sweat it. You'll do fine.
